The Maryland Department of Transportation The Secretary’s Office (MDOT TSO) is recruiting for an Air Quality and Alternate Fuel Transportation Specialist (Administrator II). This position will lead the MDOT regional Air Quality program and special projects related to MDOT Electric Vehicle Infrastructure and alternative fuel initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Ensuring the department meets air quality conformity requirements and complies with provisions of the Clean Air Act; Managing modeling, analysis, and reporting of National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS); coordinating performance measurement tracking and reporting; ensuring department’s interests are represented at State and regional Interagency Air Quality committees; developing MDOT electric vehicle (EV), alternative fuel (AF) and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) initiatives, projects and research for the Department; and providing staff support to the Zero Emission Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Council (ZEEVIC).
The current vacancy exists at MDOT TSO in Hanover, Maryland (Anne Arundel County).
The position may allow a hybrid work schedule, including telework and on-site work hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in administrative or professional work. Two (2) years of this experience must have involved applying environmental laws, regulations or guidance; or exercising responsibility for the development of plans, programs or procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
-Master’s degree from an accredited university in Planning, Public Policy, Public Administration, Engineering,
Environmental Science or related fields.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
