The Council’s Metropolitan Transportation Services (MTS) division has a vacancy for a planner or a senior-level planner. This position is eligible for hybrid (remote and onsite) teleworking if candidate’s permanent residence is in MN or WI.
The Highway Planner or Senior Highway Planner will work on projects that involve analysis, research, funding, presentations, policy development, and policy implementation. Duties include assisting with performance measures and target-setting for all modes; updating the Highways chapter of the 2050 Transportation Policy Plan; assisting on the Intersection Mobility and Safety Study, helping to score applications for the semiannual Regional Solicitation for Transportation Projects, participating in inter-agency highway studies and corridor studies; developing policy for Council consideration; participating on technical work teams and committees; developing expertise in highway funding issues and participating in distributing federal transportation funds; and analyzing origin/destination and speed data using “big data” platforms.
Planner salary: $70,408 to $106,246 annually
Senior Planner salary: $76,107 to $114,858 annually
Bachelor’s degree in city, urban or environmental planning, or a field related and three (3) years of planning-related experience.
