The main conference days will be Tuesday, September 15 through Thursday, September 17. Pre- and post-conference mobile tours will take place on Monday, September 14, and Friday, September 18.

Mobile Tours

CONFERENCE MOBILE TOURS

2026 AMPO Annual Conference host, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, has organized the following optional mobile tours for conference participants. Tours are not included in the conference registration fee. Separate sign-up and fee required after your conference registration is received. Look for the sign-up links in your registration confirmation email.

Monday, September 14, 2026: Sports and Development – 4 hour tour

Start/end time:11:30am – 3:30pm

Description: The Sacramento region is a big fan of sports. That love has translated into transformation. Join SACOG as we explore the region through its athletic culture with visits to key sports venues such as the Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings, and Sutter Health Park, temporary home to the Athletics, and explore the future Republic FC stadium. Attendees will get behind the scenes tours and learn how sports is connecting people across the region.

This tour involves walking and some light physical activity, including climbing stairs. Participants should be able to comfortably walk for short to moderate distances without difficulty.

Price: $95 per person, max 35 people

Wednesday, September 16, 2026: Explore Sacramento’s Downtown Housing Transformation by Bike - 2 hour Walking and Bike Tour

Start/end time: 2:00 – 4:00 PM

Description:

Join us for a guided biking tour through the heart of downtown Sacramento for a hands‑on look at how cities can deliver housing while enhancing mobility and quality of life. Learn about how partners from across the region are converging in the downtown core to support safety, mobility, and housing production near jobs and services. This tour will highlight Sacramento’s evolution through urban renewal, showcasing how historic neighborhoods and legacy redevelopment efforts intersect with today’s wave of infill and housing production. Participants will explore a range of historic and contemporary housing typologies that are keeping and adding new residents to the urban core.

Physical Activity Level: Moderate-to-High with a good comfort level for bike riding in an urban setting.

Limit:  $15 per person, maximum of 15 people

Thursday, September 17, 2026: R Street Corridor – 1.5 Hour Walking Tour

Start/end time: 10:00 – 11:30 AM

Description:

You’re invited to explore the R Street Corridor, where Sacramento’s past meets its creative present. Once the state’s first railroad and industrial corridor, R Street is rich with history that still lives on in its brick warehouses, historic landmarks, and rail‑inspired streetscape. Today, those same buildings have been reimagined as artists’ lofts, vibrant murals, galleries, and gathering spaces, alongside some of the city’s most celebrated dining, cocktails, entertainment, and design. Join us for a walk through the corridor to discover its industrial roots, experience its thriving arts scene, and see how R Street has transformed into a dynamic district that honors Sacramento’s history while looking boldly toward the future.

Friday, September 18, 2026: Where History Meets Investment: Sacramento’s Economic and Cultural Corridors – 4 hours

Start/end time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Description:

This bus and walking tour showcases Sacramento’s vibrant growth corridors, where historic neighborhoods, an innovative university, and community‑driven decisions are shaping the city’s future. Traveling along our changing corridors, participants will get a deep dive into the history of some of Sacramento’s most culturally significant corridors. Join us to learn how strategic investment fuels economic development while preserving cultural identity and expanding housing opportunities.

This tour involves walking and some light physical activity, including climbing stairs. Participants should be able to comfortably walk for short to moderate distances without difficulty.

Price: $75 per person, max 40 people

Registration for the 2026 AMPO Annual Conference is officially open to members only. Non-members will have the opportunity to register June 4.

To receive the Member Rate when registering online and paying by credit card, members MUST be logged into their AMPO account at the time of registration and have their membership dues paid in full. If the member fee does not show when registering, STOP and exit the registration process. CANCELLATION POLICY

Registrations, cancellations, and refund requests must be submitted in writing to events@ampo.org. All cancellation requests for registrations received on or before Friday, September 4, 2026, are subject to a $100 cancellation processing fee for conference registrations; approved refunds will be processed after the meeting takes place. There will be no refunds of any kind after Friday, September 4, 2026. Refunds will not be provided for no-shows. Substitutions within the same event/conference will be accepted without penalties. The difference between member and non-member price will be charged if a non-member replaces a member. Substitutions will be accepted with a written request to events@ampo.org. For all inquiries regarding cancellations, refunds and substitutions, please contact the AMPO Events Department at events@ampo.org. By submitting a completed registration you acknowledge that you have read and understand the cancellation policy. Please note failure to receive a confirmation letter before an event will not be grounds for a refund or credit.
