Position Description
The purpose of this position is to explore new grant funding opportunities, secure funding for the WMPO and its members, and oversight of these grants to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. This is accomplished by researching new grant opportunities and recommending viable funding applications; coordinating efforts with MPO staff, members and agencies; writing proposals; recommending approval to management and elected officials; collaborating with other departments regarding funding; managing each grant’s progress, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local compliance; and reviewing and submitting all required reports and documents. Other duties as assigned.
Typical Tasks
Obtains funding for the MPO by researching opportunities, attending workshops, writing proposals, securing funding, partnering with other agency personnel, researching best practices, and submitting proposals.
Manages funding by working with funding agencies, training and assisting MPO staff and members on each grant’s specific requirements, reviewing guidelines to ensure compliance, submitting all required reports and documents, resolving issues, and developing future strategies.
Coordinates application and submission process to ensure all required information is included. Assists with budget preparation, maintains contract documentation, and other pre/post-award activities. Review documentation for compliance, communicates and coordinates grant initiatives.
Assists the Accounting Manager as needed. This can include providing reporting requirements to various departments within the City, generating and submitting reimbursement claims, maintaining grant project ledgers and documentation.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
One year of related experience
Valid Class C Driver’s License

Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
