The North Carolina Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), in partnership with the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro MPO, is seeking consultant resource to perform a study analyzing planned and programmed rail-related projects in the region to develop a regional strategy for prioritizing and funding improvements that will enable future implementation and expansion of passenger rail services in the Triangle region, particularly along the North Carolina Railroad corridor and the NCDOT S-Line Corridor. The intent behind this effort is to develop a regional strategy for investing in infrastructure improvements, supporting or submitting grant applications, prioritizing various funding sources for said improvements, and to craft a regional consensus between the two MPO’s and other partners on the priorities and strategies moving forward.
