The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) is seeking a senior GIS professional to join its Department of Research and Analytics. The Research team is composed of in-house professionals and consultant partners with expertise in GIS mapping and spatial analysis, economic impact studies, demographic forecasting, land use and transportation demand modeling, and database and web application management. The Research team is responsible for providing GNRC staff, board members, and community partners with the information and tools necessary to aid in the development and evaluation of public policies, plans, programs, and services.
The ideal candidate will have experience with geographic information systems, data visualization tools, and an interest in learning and applying computer programming skills for advanced analytics and automation. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of open source platforms and experience in coding, application development, and database programming to include experience with Python, JavaScript, C#, and SQL languages. A master’s degree in civil engineering, urban planning, geography, computer or data science, or related field is preferred along with four years of practical experience in a related field. Foreign degrees and credentials will be considered.
