Metro, the regional government in Portland, OR serves the nearly 1.7 million people of the region by providing services for land use and transportation planning, housing and homeless services, GIS and research, natural areas, parks and trails, solid waste and recycling and visitor venues like the Oregon Convention Center and Oregon Zoo.
Metro’s transportation planning team is made up of transportation policy and project delivery planning staff who are passionate about shaping new approaches to transportation revenue and the delivery of projects for the benefit of the community. Understanding and analyzing transportation funding helps develop the transportation services and infrastructure to meet the needs of the people and businesses of this region and ensure projects are efficiently delivered.
As the Associate Transportation Planner, you will develop transportation revenue forecasts, tracking and analysis systems to support policy makers in transforming the ways in which the region equitably and adequately collects revenues as we transition from a primarily fuel tax-based revenue system. You will also support Metro’s competitive, application-based funding allocation process that awards transportation funds to advance the region’s transportation investment policy priorities of safety, climate, equity, mobility, and economic prosperity.
Minimum qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree, AND
– Two years of transportation planning, public administration, and/or financial forecasting experience; OR
– We will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
