Executive Director

OahuMPO is seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director to lead the organization’s regional transportation planning efforts for the island of Oʻahu. Reporting to the Policy Board, the Executive Director oversees the agency’s operations, staff, budget, and federally required transportation planning programs while working closely with the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation, the City and County of Honolulu, HART, and other regional partners.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban, regional, or transportation planning, civil engineering, public administration, or a related field.
• 8–10 years of progressively responsible transportation or regional planning experience.
• At least 5 years of senior management and direct supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, budgeting, and program management skills.
• Graduate education, professional certifications (such as AICP or ITE), and knowledge of federal transportation planning requirements are highly desirable.
