The 2024 conference will be held September 24-27, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The AMPO Annual Conference is the premier event for MPOs to learn and network. It provides the opportunity to meet with over 400+ MPO directors, transportation planners, and elected officials from across the country. The conference is structured into two and one-half days of sessions, with networking events every evening. During the conference, attendees are able to choose from general sessions, workshops, and mobile tours. A concurrent exhibition is held onsite during the conference, allowing opportunities to visit with industry partners and learn about new products and services.

All AMPO Annual Conference events, unless otherwise noted, will occur at the hotel.

The conference will be held at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown City Creek. Reservations for the group block will open by late May 2024. The Salt Lake Marriott Downtown City Creek is conveniently located near Temple Square, Salt Palace Convention Center, and other popular attractions. 2024 AMPO Annual Conference

OVERVIEW

Welcome to the Call for Proposals for the 2024 AMPO Annual Conference! We invite passionate and innovative individuals to contribute to our event by submitting proposals for breakout session presentations, panel discussions, and workshops.

The AMPO Annual Conference is the premier in-person event for MPOs to learn and network. It provides the opportunity to meet with hundreds of MPO directors, transportation planners, and elected officials from across the country (and is possibly the only national event where you do not need to explain what an MPO is when you introduce yourself!).

Unlike the Planning Tools and Training Symposium, the Annual Conference has a much larger capped attendance of up to 500 attendees. As a result, the sessions are run in 3 simultaneous tracks over multiple days, providing a wide range of topics. Matching this range is the audience, which tends to include MPO staff of all levels, DOT and Federal liaisons, private partners, and elected officials.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

View the Three P’s (Purpose, People, and Process) of a proposal submission. All proposals must be submitted through AMPO’s online submission portal, Catalyst, by OmniPress.

TIMELINE
  • January 30 – March 1: Submit proposals.
  • March 1: Submission deadline. AMPO is unable to accept late submissions.
  • March 4 – April 30: Proposal review process
  • May 17:  All proposal submitters are notified of status
REVIEW PROCESS

The AMPO Technical Committee coordinates with AMPO staff to score and prioritize proposals for inclusion on the agenda. While competition for space on the agenda can be tough, if you follow the guidance we’ve provided on how to put together a good proposal and fully explain how your proposal addresses the 3Ps, you will stand a good chance of being selected.

All proposals will undergo a thorough review by our expert panel. Notification of acceptance will be sent by May 17, 2024.
