The northwestern area of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization consists of all or part of two municipalities (Creedmoor and Butner) and portions of three counties (Granville, Franklin, and Wake). In addition to the northwestern area of the Capital Area MPO, the study area for this project will extend beyond CAMPO’s boundary out to and include all parts of Stem and Oxford.
The Northwest Area Study will evaluate land use, development patterns and potential, and develop multimodal transportation recommendations for the study area in response to an agreed-upon land use vision for the area. Transportation recommendations will be used to inform the 2055 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The study will consist of three phases – Land Use Visioning, Land Use Scenario Assessment, and Multimodal Transportation Recommendations (described in detail under the Project Phasing section). The consultant is expected to provide recommendations and final deliverables to the client and deliver final project presentations to local governing boards no later than anticipated completion date of June 30, 2026.
