SUMMARY
The East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (ECWRPC) is looking for an energetic and dynamic professional to join its Economic Development and Environmental Planning Team. The Economic Development Program focuses on working with partner organizations on the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the region, working with local communities to implement economic development initiatives, and the implementation of the SPARC Program. The Environmental Management Team is responsible for the implementation of the Water Quality Management program and works in tandem with the transportation team on corridor projects including the development of an environmental corridor plan.
BACKGROUND
ECWRPC serves seven counties in Northeastern Wisconsin with a focus on core program areas of Economic Development, Transportation, Environmental Management along with assisting local
communities on comprehensive planning, outdoor recreation planning, and zoning code updates. In addition, the Commission assist local units of government with planning projects and GIS Data Analysis and Visualization.
ANNUAL SALARY
The position is full-time at 37.5 hours/week and offers a starting annual salary in the range of $56,749 – $65,261/year (depending on experience and qualifications), plus full benefits, including health insurance, flexible scheduling, paid time off, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with a team to develop implement the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the region along with the SPARC Program.
- Works with the environmental management and transportation team on the development of an environmental corridor study and the implementation of the Water Quality Management
Program. - Assist the planning team on the development of local plans including comprehensive plan, outdoor recreation plans, zoning code updates.
- Assist the transportation team on planning efforts and field work as necessary.
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data and prepare presentations, graphics, and reports. Develop and apply a variety of methods for the analysis of complex transportation and geospatial datasets.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in urban/ regional planning, geography, environmental management, economics, or a related field required. Master’s degree in urban and regional planning,
transportation planning, public health, economic development, or public administration is a plus. - Experience in a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience and skill in public speaking and presentations with diverse communities.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
- Organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong analytical or economic development planning skills.
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders with an emphasis in equity, transparency, and clarity.
- Knowledge and experience with Environmental Planning and Economic Development projects is a plus.
- Experience with ArcMap, GIS applications, and Adobe InDesign is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Environmental Management and/or Planning and Economic Development is a plus
